Stop Adjust Kariyo !!!

Train me theen ke jaga che baiten honge, sathva aake bolega, “Zara Adjust Kariyo!!!”

Remember this from somewhere? It is from RDB and according to me this sums up our Indian mentality… I write this blog out of sheer frustration on management.

To start off let me consider Traffic Management…

This is just in wake of recent outburst of people on political rallies and our good old Soil son’s sloppy reply (Manina Maga in Kannada). Citizens of Bangalore are not happy with traffic chaos in city and have all the right to curse the government and officials. But my question is who cause traffic? It is us…

No no don’t be under impression that I support political rallies which can be summarized as “Transmission of utter nonsense to people who have their receivers turned off”.

So what or who exactly are to be blamed for this debacle? Both. We the citizens and the government.

Our former Prime minister mentioned, “People in cities can’t bare any inconvenience and reach home late by an hour. They should feel the hardship of people from villages.” Great statement don’t you think? No wonder educated people refrain from voting.

So what can be done to ease out traffic?

From Citizens:

• Don’t travel alone unless absolutely necessary. Use public/mass transport if not car pool.

I have seen morons drive Innova to office alone. Does it make sense?

• If you have to rent a house, be close to work place as possible. You can just walk your way to office and health.

• Follow traffic rules.

I have seen drivers cutting across lanes like placing hot knife on butter, jumping signals, crossing yellow line, … Simply don’t do it.

• Parents ensure your kids stay and study in school close by.

Joseph’s, Sofia’s won’t make your child genius… Parental guidance is more important.

• Take stock of situation.

How many of us really have courage or time to question authorities? Leave Adjust Kariyo attitude. Form social groups and fight for your rights.

From Government:

• Have civic sense in handling people. Stop gimmicks.

I am not sure how to educate government on this but surely a tenth grade pass out following his text books can come handy.

• Join personality development courses.

There are people reading news papers and watching you on TV. Talk sense.

• Use engineers for designing and maintaining infrastructure not just for approvals and engineers, use brain.

Magic Box was good move but use common sense in implementation. Metro rail within city limits was too much.

Best till date signal on top of Richmond road flyover… You have built eight wonder…

• Ensure public safety first.

There were no underpass or overhead bridges for crossing on express way towards BIA.

• Maintain time lines.

Penalize contractors for missing deadline or deviating from agreement and according appreciate them for good work.

• Involve citizens in decision making.

Remember “For the people, By the people and To the people”. If people are not happy , it does not matter if you go to moon or get it down to earth.
